Psychological therapies are sometimes referred to as 'talking therapies'. Psychological therapy is a collaborative space to explore your difficulties in a safe and confidential setting. We aim to help you better understand your feelings in the context of your past experiences.
There are over a thousand different psychotherapy techniques, some being minor variations, while others are based on very different conceptions of psychology, ethics (how to behave professionally), or techniques. Most involve one-to-one sessions, between the client and therapist, but some are conducted with groups,[1] including families. Psychotherapists may be mental health professionals such as psychiatrists, psychologists, mental health nurses, clinical social workers, marriage and family therapists, or professional counselors.
